Not only does Aabévé Vertaalbureau arrange translations from and into virtually every language, it can also have your texts edited. This includes the editing of a website text in any preferred language. For more information about website translations, read here.

During verbal communication in different languages, professional conference or consecutive interpretersare of course vital. The interpreter ensures that persons and parties understand each other and that unnecessary misunderstandings are prevented. That is particularly important during international business contacts and international court proceedings. Here the smallest of mistakes can have significant consequences.


For a no-obligation quote, please send us an email or call us on the central telephone number +31 (0)485-455279. You can send us the document to be translated straight away, after which we will send you a quote by return. All documents are of course treated with the strictest of confidence. You can also send your files by the WeTransfer channel, which is a secured connection.

We will reply to you within 30 minutes. If you agree with our quote, you can confirm this by e-mail, after which we will start the translation process. Your translation will be returned before the given delivery date.


In principle, our translation rates apply to general texts. A surcharge may apply to very specialist texts. We will of course notify you in advance if that is the case. The rates depend on the number of words and the language combination. If you have a Word document, you can count the number of words yourself. If you have documents in other file formats, please send them to us and we will count the number of words for you.

After we have received the document, we will give you a quote and a delivery date by return. On average, a translator translates 2,000 to 2.500 words per day. Certified translations and rush jobs are subject to a 20% surcharge. All prices given are exclusive of VAT. Rates for interpreting services are available on request.

Personal data that we process
Aabévé Vertaalbureau collects and processes your personal data because you use our services and/or because you provide services to us. This happens if you ask us, as a private individual, to have personal documents translated. Examples of these are birth certificates, passports, driving licenses, marriage certificates, decrees absolute, wills, Certificates of Good Conduct, etc.

Business documents may also contain personal data, which we have to translate.
You will find an overview below of the personal data that we translate or capture when they are in your document:

• Name and surname
• Sex
• Date of birth
• Place of birth
• Address details
• Email address
• Bank account number

We would like to make clear that gender, date of birth and place of birth are not recorded in our administration, but the source texts provided by you and the translation are stored in our records in accordance with legal requirements.

Business documents will generally contain less of this type of data, but even then, its treatment will be the same.

Special and/or sensitive personal data that we process
Aabévé Vertaalbureau processes the following special and/or sensitive personal information from you if it is contained in the documents that you provide us for translation.

• Health (translation of a medical report from a doctor, for example.)
• Criminal record (translation of a police report, for example.)
• Data of persons under 16 years of age (translation of a birth certificate, ID card, passport, etc.)
• Citizen Service Number (BSN)
• Biometric data (e.g., photographs on passports and ID cards, etc.)

For what purpose and on what basis do we process personal data?
Aabévé Vertaalbureau processes your personal data in order to be able to carry out your translation assignment.

 Automated decision making
Aabévé Vertaalbureau does not make decisions on the basis of automated processing on matters that could have (significant) consequences for persons. These are decisions taken by computer programs or systems that do not involve any human intervention (e.g., an Aabévé Vertaalbureau employee).

Aabévé Vertaalbureau uses computer programs and systems for correspondence, administration, presentation, etc., and for analysing and counting the words in the documents supplied.

Retention periods of personal data
Aabévé Vertaalbureau does not store your personal data for longer than is strictly necessary to achieve the purposes for which your data is collected.

We apply the following retention periods for personal data:

  • Requests for a quotation that have not been converted into an assignment: maximum 10 weeks
  • Documents (both source text and translation) that have been converted into an assignment: 7 years
  • Administration: 7 years

 Sharing personal data with third parties
Aabévé Vertaalbureau shares your personal data with our translators, as this is necessary for the execution of the translation assignment. We always conclude a data processing agreement with companies that process your data on our behalf, to ensure the same level of security and confidentiality of your data. Aabévé Vertaalbureau shall remain ultimately responsible for the processing.

Our website and/or service does not intend to collect data about website visitors. But like almost all websites, our website does also make use of cookies. If you are convinced that we have collected personal data without consent, please contact us via mail. We will investigate this and, if this is the case, we will remove this data.

In order to ensure that the request for inspection has been made by you, we would ask you to submit a copy of your proof of identity with the request. In this copy, black out your passport photo, MRZ (machine readable zone, the strip with numbers at the bottom of the passport), passport number and Social Security number (BSN).

This is to protect your privacy. We will respond to your request as quickly as possible, but in any case within 2 weeks.

Security of personal data
Aabévé Vertaalbureau takes the protection of your data seriously and takes appropriate measures to prevent misuse, loss, unauthorised access, unintentional disclosure and unauthorised alteration.
